Question: I have headings in a microsoft word document. how do i know if they are marked as index entries?

Nothing is marked as an Index entry unless you explicitly mark it. Headings, especially the first three, Heading 1, Heading 2 and Heading 3, can automatically create Table of Contents entries, but not index entries. Hope that helps.

They have to be set with a headings style (heading 1, heading 2, heading 3, etc.).
