Is there any video game software you can buy and create your own video game?
For about six months i've been trying to find software so I can try to create my own games so I can get a little practice for when i start doing computer science. Is there a good piece of video game software u can either buy or download on computer or laptop and you can actually create full length video games? And if there is, what is the name of it and what does it do?
If you download an ISO file off of a torrent, like video game software, do you HAVE to burn it to play it?
Like for instance if you own a copy of Resident Evil 4 on Game Cube, or say Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii, and you want to back it up on you're computer so you can play it on the go. If you want to emulate the games with the Dolphin emulator, in order for the emulator to read the games is required that you MUST extract the ISO file and burn dump it to a DVD R, or can you just save the files in the ISO onto you're hard drive and play the game from there?

I am looking to create a video game taking place during the revolutionary war. I have no experience with creating video games and I am looking for easy to use software. I have a very limited budget so I would greatly appreciate if anyone would tell me some good software to use. Thanks.
